A domain name is a unique address on the Internet.
The Domain Name System (DNS) translates your domain name into the numerical IP (Internet Protocol) addresses used by the Internet. A domain name can be used as a web address for webpages and will be part of your email address. There are many different types of domain extensions such as .COM, .NET, and .CA to name a few.
An example of a domain name would be yourdomain.com. The unique web address would be www.yourdomain.com. E-mail addresses would include the domain name and could include you@yourdomain.com.
